Ranunculus. Nikon D7100. 105 mm (Nikon Macro). ISO 200. 1/3 sec at f/4. Copyright Joanne Mason 2015.
Here’s another new Ranunculus image. This was photographed with the Nikon 105 mm f/2.8 macro lens and deliberately shot and processed soft focus. The earlier ranunculus images I have done were in brighter colors (reds, mostly) and bolder images. These are softer, more dreamy in appearance. Interesting that the same flower comes not only in different colors but such different moods.
Summer Garden. Nikon D200. 50 mm. ISO 250. 1/400 sec at f/6.7. Copyright Joanne Mason 2015.
As a winter storm approaches the northeastern US, here is a taste of summer to recall those warm sunny days in the garden.
Inverted Orchid. Copyright Joanne Mason 2015.
Through a combination of techniques, the colors in this orchid have been reversed. The original image has been published here before. I think this version is much more sensual, even erotic. The orchid is a Phalaenopsis, also frequently called a “moth orchid.” Among the most attractive orchids, these have become altogether too ubiquitous of late. I think this image is an improvement, certainly another way of seeing. (Click image for larger.)
White Flower. Nikon D200. Micro Nikkor 105mm. ISO 200. 1/5 sec at f/16. June 2014. Copyright Joanne Mason 2014.
Another black and white image from the recent series of azaleas and rhododendrons.
Rhododendron. Nikon D200. Nikkor 105 mm Macro. ISO 200. 1/160 sec at f/8.0. June 2014. Copyright Joanne Mason 2014.
The image is from the recent Rhododendron series. I’ve worked on this one quite a lot to get what I’ve envisioned in black-and-white (ethereal, almost ghostly, a softly sensuous look). Processed using both Nik Color Efex and Nik Silver Efex. Click image for larger.
Fence Corner. 645 Pro MkII on iPhone 4s. ISO 50. 4.28 mm. 1/850 sec at f/2.4. June 2014. Copyright Joanne Mason 2014.
This was shot while strolling in the park with the dog. It’s an iPhone image, using an app 645Pro MkII. The image was still processed the normal way in Lightroom and Nik Silver Efex.
