Interesting patterns in these leaves which I’ve tried to bring out in the processing. This also was shot with the new Nikon 35mm f/1.8.

Red Camelia. Nikon D200. 35mm Nikkor f/1.8. ISO 400. 1/250 sec at f/16. Copyright Joanne Mason 2012.
This red camellia was processed with a red filter which makes the flower appear white while darkening the foliage. It was shot with a new lens, the Nikon 35mm f/1.8. This is a wonderfully clear, sharp, and fast lens. Equivalent to 52mm in 35mm, this lens is for all practical purposes a “normal” lens for the DX format. Recently, there’s been an increase in interest in the photographic world back toward prime lenses away from zooms. I’m inclined to agree with the advantages and merits of a prime lens like this Nikon 35mm 1.8.
