This is Keyes View in California’s Joshua Tree National Park. Below is the Coachella Valley and in the distance the Salton Sea. A color version of this image is in Landscapes of the American Southwest. The more I work with black-and-white the happier I am with the results. Shot shortly before sunset, the black-and-white lacks the glow of the color image, but there’s more texture (in the rocks and in the land) and more, I think, drama.
