On the Western edge of the Navajo Reservation in northern Arizona are the Wupatki National Monument and the Sunset Crater National Monument. Within the last 1000 years, the Wupatki Pueblo was one of the largest pueblos. The Sunset Crater is the site of a volcanic eruption only 1000 years ago. A lonely and desolate but beautiful road winds through both national parks today. This post is titled as it is because significant parts of the 1969 movie Easy Rider were shot on this road. You can picture me riding down the highway above atop my 1968 Harley alongside Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper.

I love the clean, crispness of this shot. I can almost feel the heat.
